Roots Down NB Winter ‘10 (Flyer)
A Free Wintertime Organic Garden Planning Series for 2010
4 Thursdays (Feb 11, Feb 25, Mar 18, Mar 25) 4PM-6PM at the Rotch-Jones-Duff House&Garden Museum, 396 County St. in New Bedford. We’ll be meeting in the Coachman’s House which has an entrance on 7th St.
This series of four workshops is geared toward new and experienced gardeners who are interested in learning more about organic growing techniques, connecting with other gardeners, and learning about nutrient dense food production.
Each workshop will build on topics presented in the earlier workshops, so we invite and recommend attending all four dates. Topics will include: Garden Design, Building a New Vegetable Garden, Renovating Existing Garden Beds, Seed Selection, Crop Rotation, Seed Starting and more. This will be a hands on workshop series with an emphasis on real world planning, therefore participants are invited to bring along seed catalogs, a map of your garden (or its dimensions), soil tests if you have them, etc.
Please RSVP to preregister by contacting us at 508-992-1868 or emailing derekchristianson@gmail.com.
Roots Down – New Bedford began as a collaboration between Brix Bounty Farm and the Rotch-Jones-Duff House&Garden Museum in Spring of 2009.
The initial 2009 season was made possible by a grant from the Community Foundation of Southeastern Massachusetts – SEEAL Fund.
In addition to a series of spring workshops, we hosted monthly workshops at the Lawler Branch Library in New Bedford throughout 2009.
